The alleged military leader of the Basque separatist group ETA has been charged with terrorist offences by a Paris judge and remanded in custody.
The suspected guerilla leader, known under the alias "Txeroki", Basque for "Cherokee", was arrested on Monday in an apartment in the spa resort of Cauterets in the Pyrenees. He has been formally charged in connection with the killing of two undercover Spanish police officers in southwestern France in December 2007.
