Investors hunted for bargains in financial stocks, they're also anticipating a stimulus package to be announced by China this weekend. By end of trading, the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index was up more than four percent, Japan's Nikkei was up just over one percent. On Wednesday, global stock markets amid deepened fears of a recession. The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged to a five-year low, losing more than five percent in trading. Meanwhile weak demand continues to drive the price of oil lower, selling for under 50 dollars a barrel in London.
